With soccer becoming an integral part of GD Goenka World School, the Goenkans, had the privilege of having with them the well-known Indian Soccer player honorable Mr. BAICHUNG BHUTIA on Sunday the 21’st of August 2011. It was an immense pleasure knowing how a celebrity could be so modest and down to earth despite all the fame and glory attached to his name. He shared with the students details about his life and how he had managed to come such a long way.
The students were also given an opportunity to ask him questions related to his career, his life and also his goals. His inspiring words “We should have a passion for whatever we do and once we have worked on our passion, our goals are not too far” sent a ripple of enthusiasm through the entire student community. After an interactive session with the students, he was escorted on a short tour of the school. He loved the open area and the infrastructure and was very appreciative of the institution. The students who had lunch with him were impressed by his high ideals. This experience brought them closer to the life of a celebrity. He made a deep impact on their minds and convinced them that despite the hurdles one faces in life, with dedication and sincerity of purpose, the achievement of goals is definitely possible. The students felt honored to get photographed with him and have him sign autographs for them.
