G. D. Goenka World School fraternity organised the first-ever virtual TEDx conference in Gurgaon on the 16th of January 2021. The theme chosen was “A Positive Metanoia” which conveys an urge to induce a positive change in our local communities. We chose this message, as we are well aware that during the global pandemic, individuals need to reinstate their individuality and this can only be.
The TEDx event was a local gathering which is a grassroots initiative, created in the spirit of TED’s overall mission to discover and tribune “ideas worth spreading” amongst the youth. Our TEDx event was organised by our passionate students who seek to uncover new ideas and to share the latest research and innovations in our local areas that have the power to spark conversations in their communities. A TED talk, specifically, is a showcase for speakers presenting change-inducing, well-informed ideas in under 18 minutes. This scientifically-backed, TED philosophy aided us in communicating various ideas in our localities. Our event was a free-for-all, therefore, attempting to reach many people who needed direction, motivation and positivity in their lives.
We had 9 distinguished speakers willing to share their knowledge and ideas on debatable yet crucial topics, the nature of the topic tended to vary greatly to touch each neoteric spectrum. We covered a range of ideas from technology to real-life decisions, re-establishing perspectives on topics such as cybersecurity, human rights, artistic values and psychology. The speakers conveyed their message with vigour and fluency, thereby, ensuring the conveyance of their ideas to the masses of the live, virtual audience. The audience enthusiastically joined us from our YouTube Livestream, and also, the official Zoom meeting where the event was seamlessly conducted.
We are grateful to Ms Vanshika Goenka, Ms Aparna Apte, Ms Minal Anand, Ms Swati Bhargava,, Mr Anoop Nautiyal, Mr Rakshit Tandon, Ms Reema Sanghvi, Mr Amit Chowdry and our alumnus, Ms Priyam Sharma, for their inspiring presentations.
