G D Goenka  World School’s dynamic MUN club is regularly organizing simulations which help develop debating researching and networking skills. Perhaps the most important skill debaters learn is the ability to think rigorously and critically. The simulations help develop awareness and firm conviction on the topic of discussion and also activate mental alertness as you continuously develop your arguments by listening to other delegates.

Goenkans were highly active during the summer holidays. Sayyam Khurana from grade XII and Srivattsan from Grade X participated in MUN conferences and won awards. Sayyam attended the Indian International Model United Nations in Mumbai from 1-5 August. The first session of the Indian International Model United Nations is one of India’s largest MUN with over 1100 delegates from schools and colleges from various countries including Bangladesh, South Korea, Malaysia and many more. Sayyam represented the country of “Russian Federation” in the committee of “United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)”. He was helped with research and debating skills by the coordinator and school’s Alumni and secured the “Best Speaker Award”. The committee debated for hours on the agenda “Sustainability Water Management in Asian Countries” and came up with a 7 page resolution paper. The simulation was chaired by highly qualified diplomats, some of whom have also represented their country in the UN Youth Conference.

Srivattsan Ramesh of grade 11  chose to attend CVMUN , as an individual delegate, during his holiday trip in Chennai. He also represented Russian Federation in UNEP.
