70th Republic Day was celebrated in all its sombreness and splendour at GDGWS central courtyard. Bejewelled in the colours of “Tiranga”, the whole place resonated with patriotic zeal and zest. The Director-Principal, Dr. Neeta Bali, hoisted the national flag – with live instruments being played in the background as the Indian tricolour flag unfurled and fluttered in the free feisty breeze. Farhaan and Kashvi, the ceremony hosts, gave an introductory speech about the history and significance of Republic Day.
The cultural programme commenced with tiny tots of Nursery class amazing everyone by singing “Sare Jahan Se Achha” .Thereafter, Mridul Gaur from grade 9 recited a Hindi patriotic poem with a great jingoistic spirit. Next performer was Advait from grade 9 who sang a Telugu classical song with the message of equal rights for all citizens. This was followed by the song “Yeh Jo Desh Mera” sung melodically by the Middle School Choir. The group dance performance by the IG and IB students was spectacular and impressive. The connotation of the dance was women empowerment which very well harmonised with this year’s Republic Day Theme: Nari Shakti.
The Programme concluded with the Director Principal, Dr Neeta Bali, awarding trophies, medals and certificates to the winners of National Level Art Competition and Aerolympics 2019.
