Janamashtami celebrations at GDGWS

Krishna Janamashtami was celebrated with enthusiasm in GDGWS on August 27, 2013. A special assembly was organized in the school. The assembly commenced with a “Krishan bhajan”, a devotional prayer, sung by Parnika Punwar and Gamini Khurana. It was followed by a power point presentation which emphasized the importance of the festival and the customs associated with it. The significance of ‘dahi handi’ was also highlighted as it not only signifies Sri Krishna’s love for milk and butter, but it emphasizes the importance of team work. The highlight of the celebration was a ‘gopi’ dance by the Middle School students which was enjoyed by one and all. The PYP  students put up scintillating  performances depicting  the life of ‘Krishna’

The Head of the School, Dr.  Neeta Bali spoke about the Lord Krishna being popular not only in India, but throughout the world due to the ISKON group, an international religious organization. The celebrations concluded with the head of the school conveying her good wishes to one and all.
