The Goenkan Grounds, an expansive stretch of green, was the venue of the Annual PYP Sparta -The joy to the world on the morning of March 14, 2014. The day had dawned bright and clear with just the hint of a chill to make it pleasant for both spectators and participants alike. The whole playground had been decorated with flags and buntings.The Head of School and Principal Dr. Neeta Bali extended a warm welcome to all. Col Bhanwala an Arjuna awardee in rowing,graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and his presence, coupled with the enthusiastic crowd supported and encouraged the athletes to lift their performance by several notches. The PYP Sparta commenced with a colourful March Past by the four houses, Cycas,Cedrus,Nyssa and Sorbus which was followed by an oath taking ceremony.
The various displays by grades Nursery to 5 ,fun races by grade nursery -2 and atheletic events ensured 100% participation. The Sports Day thus provided all PYP Goenkans an opportunity to display their strength, stamina and sporting ability and reiterated the point that sports is an integral part of the Goenkan curriculum.
The various track and field events and the performances enlivened the atmosphere with the participants showcasing their sporting prowess to the tune of deafening applause from an enthralled audience.
The day culminated with the chief guest declaring the meet closed followed by a musical rendition of the national anthem.
