In a PYP School, the culmination of primary school learning is the exhibition unit, in which students carry out an extended collaborative enquiry. The exhibition synthesizes the essential elements of the programme: knowledge, transdisciplinary skills, concepts, attitudes and action. It’s an opportunity to celebrate their learning and share it with the world. It also gives them a chance to exhibit the attributes of the IB learner profile that they have been developing throughout their engagement with the primary years programme. The exhibition is put up to celebrate the transition of learners from Elementary to Middle School.

On Saturday, March 5, 2016, the exhibition began with a power point presentation showing the pupils’ journey of the exhibition and thedetails of the unit of inquiry viz

Central idea: An equal access to education can empower us to transform lives. 
Lines of enquiry :

  • Education and its purpose.
  • Different points of view and changes in the concept of education.
  • Our responsibility towards society for an equal access to education and steps taken in that direction.
  • Causes of limited access to education and its impact. 

The pupils of grade 5 had put in their hard work to do the research under the able guidance of their mentors to install various concept stations in the Assembly Hall and show their creative skills in displaying the detailed research work they underwent for their topics related to education. Students  created stories on education and empowerment with illustrations, displayed their poetry, reflection of video they watched, on magazine articles, case study of Mr.Narender Modi , Ms. Malala Yousafzia,  brainstorming about education,  types of education- formal, informal, non formal, equal education boosts economic  growth, schooling can save the planet, education is part of the solution to global environment problem, educating girls can save millions of life,educational growth, education is vital to culminate malnutrition in the lòng term, education transforms lives,education  empowers women to overcome discrimination, education is indispensable in  strengthening the bonds that holds communities and societies together, education system of Iraq, South Korea, education system of India during ancient  period, medival period, colonial period and modern  India, causes of child labour, know your rights etc

Students of Grade 5 also presented a Street Play on ‘Education for all‘ depicting that education is very important for girls. it was a commendable show which was appreciated by all the viewers. Placards showing the importance of education – education drives away all the ignorance; education gives our thinking different appearance; education – the key to bright and rewarding future etc. The street  play ended with a slogan “Education  is our right, for the future to be bright” which echoed in the hall.

PYP Head Ms Pretty Khosla appreciated the students, their mentors, form tutors and Art teacher for the grand success of the exhibition and said that the three month long hard work had reaped healthy fruits.
