While our Junior Cricket team had been playing matches with outside academies our seniors were mainly confided to intra class games in school premises. One reason for that was because we felt that they still needed some more time to gel with each other and raise their game by couple of notches.
However, this saturday we organised a game for them against one of the prominent academies of Gurgaon. Main intention was to exposed them against different set of bowlers and batters and we weren’t really thinking about winning and losing. But it looks like our seniors got inspired from the vigour shown by the Junior Cricket team who were victorious in the last two matches.
They played wonderful cricket through out and at the end of 3 and a half hours were rightfully grinning from ear to ear. And why not, they had just defeated the team which is not just been playing together for 3 years but also practicing 4 days a week.
Batting first we scored 175 in allotted 20 overs. While Arpit and Navdit took a measured approach in scoring 35 and 23 respectively off 34 and 22 balls, late surge was provided by skipper Bhavya Madan (21 off 12 balls with 2 sixes) and Yuvraj Bindra (38 off 20 balls with 6 boundaries and 1 six).
Masterclass cricket Academy could never cope up with our bowlers who dished out too many variations for them to have any clue. Lalithesh literally made them danced to his tunes as he took 4 wickets and was ably supported by Ayush who had two scalps under his name. Ujjawal and Navdit also took a wicket each.
In the end we were comprehensive winners as we restricted them to 143 and won by 32 runs.
