The 2013 Boarding’s 6 a side Soccer tournament was held on the August 9th & 10th . The cup took place in the soccer field, where participants and all boarders were spectators. Six teams were selected for participation, whereby each team consists of six players, one member of each grade and one senior captain. These six teams played in a knockout stage, whereby two rounds of play decided which teams would participate in the final. Despite the bleak weather, two teams stood up strong and overcame all obstacles to play in the finals, the ‘Yellow Eagles’ captained by Sandesh Ekka and the ‘Black Hawks “captained by Namewan. The two teams adopted two different styles and tactics in their game. The final was as exciting, with a one all draw, the match was decided by penalty shootouts. Despite all the odds, the ‘Black Hawks”came on top and were titled champions of the 2013 Boarding’s Soccer Cup. Though only six players won, the fun and excitement still lives within us. For the cup was a true example of Joga Bonito.
