The 64th Republic Day of India was celebrated at G.D. Goenka World School with a great deal of patriotic zeal and fervour. The day began with the hoisting of the Indian flag by our Principal, Mrs. Neeta Bali, followed by the National Anthem. The entire school courtyard reverberated with the rhythemic beats of “Rang de Basanti” and the Middle school students dancing to it with the tricolour flags fluttering in the air.A broad smile could be seen on everyone’s face when the excited nursery students got to release the tri-coloured helium balloons into the air.The events that followed, included a beautiful piece of patriotic Hindi song and a blindfold dance, performed by the students of the Middle Years Programme and an excellent enactment of Subhash Chandra Bose’s speech byKartikeya Sundaram.

Believing in the ethos of ‘one faith, one religion’, the Goenkans also celebrated Eid –Ul-Milad with an amazing rendition by the students of primary and middle section. The Principal also acknowledged winners of IAYP awards on this momentous occasion

The programme concluded with very inspiring speech given by the Principal and Head of School, Mrs. Neeta Bali. She passionately spoke about the unfortunate Delhi rape case and announced ‘Gender Sensitisation Drive’ for the young Goenkans. She requested the entire fraternity to be part of this cause.
