The following students of Grade 11 participated in the National Aerolympics 2019 held in Bangalore from 18 th to 20 th January accompanied by Ms. Naina Vaish (IBDP Physics Facilitator):

They competed against 22 other teams who had made it to Phase II. A brief introduction along with an expert talk was given by Shri. Arup Chatterjee, CEO of HAL (Hindustan Aeronautic Limited) and Shri M.Z. Siddique (OS and Director GTRE). The various events included: a technical quiz relating to aerospace and a general knowledge quiz, a surprise event of extempore talk about Moon Missions, presentations on the topic of INDIAN SPACE EXPLORATION, students performed a skit on unity in diversity for the cultural event along with a team from Vyomayana Samstha Vidalya and model making on Chandrayaan-2.
The team performed very well in all the events. Shri R. Arunachalam Sir (Former ISRO Scientist/Vice Chairman AeSI) met with all the participants which was quite memorable. They visited the HAL museum. There were two expert talks by Shri. Harish K (Chairman Vagdevi Vilas Institutions) and Dr. S V Sharma (Senior Scientist ISRO) who also offered all the students a golden opportunity to visit the ISRO facilities to see the real spacecraft Chandrayaan-2 before it gets wrapped and ready. Chandrayaan-2 is second lunar mission and first completely indigenous mission by
India.
The team backed the runner up position in both the Static Model Making and Cultural Event. Moreover, they received fifth position overall. All in all, it was an incredible and unforgettable as well as extremely enlightening trip for the students.
