The students of IBDP Year I and Year II had an interactive session on CAREERS IN ECONOMICS ,ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT at the GDGWI on September 22 and 23,2011. The interaction was intended towards motivating the students towards making determined choices in the careers related to their fields. The two days session commenced with a brief address by Principal ,GDGWS , Mrs. Neeta Bali , who re -enforced the importance of making informed Career choices
Professor Balachandran, a distinguished Visiting Faculty , G d Goenka World Institute from the NYU Stern School of Business, addressed the students on understanding the importance and relevance of education and careers. He highlighted the role of a good environment and educational culture in providing and shaping personalities and building confidence. His stories about the University of California at Berkeley were indeed very inspirational.
The other esteemed faculty members were Dr Eti Ray Chand ,who spoke to the students on the courses related to Communication and Business, Dr Puri on Engineering courses and Mr Pankaj Kumar Singh spoke on skills, application and adaptability in handling projects related to various courses.
Initially, questions were asked by a couple of people but then the ice broke and a flurry of questions was bombarded at Dr. Balachandran and he responded to the questions with much delight. The key points that were highlighted by Dr. Balachandran were how communication is the key and the fact that having a versatile personality is looked upon more favorably by universities than just focusing on academics.
Finally, the students left the room with a better sense of the applications process due to the interactive session.

However, after asking a few questions to Dr. Balachandran, I became crystal-clear about the procedure and look forward to taking his advice seriously when the time comes.”
