The motive of celebration of Children’s Day on Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday is because of his love and affection for children. Pandit Nehru is also regarded as the country’s very special child as he was amongst those who had struggled for independence and had the opportunity to be India’s first Prime Minister. Children across the country know him as “Chacha Nehru“.
The Children’s Day was celebrated on November 14, 2013 at G D Goenka World School, Sohna with great pomp and show . The day’s atmosphere was quite different from any other day. The environment had a sense of happiness and cheer .The day started with the event “Treasure Hunt ‘ organized by the CAS Coordinator , Ms. Vijayashree Pahal for IB-DP students in which the school campus was fully charged up with students participating in different events comprising of games of different levels to achieve the goal of completing 9 levels to claim their maps for the treasure hunt . Then students went hunting for clues in places which were cleverly designed for the hunt . Finally the treasure was given to the winning team by the Head of the school . The day’s aura was filled with fun and frolic as the teachers of G D Goenka World School donned a completely different avatar . The programme not only had staff singing , dancing and acting to mesmerizing soundtracks. Divas from PYP to ID-DP preformed on various popular Bollywood and Pop numbers alongwith a performance given in ‘Kathak’ two dance teachers which left everybody spelled bound .
The day ended with Head of the School, Dr. Neeta Bali , congratulating everybody on their efforts and involvement in making the Children’s Day such a success .
