Field trips expand children’s learning through active hands-on experience with the rich resources of the local community and increase student knowledge and understanding of a subject and add realism to the topic of study. The aim of such trips is to observe the subject in its natural state and possibly collect samples.

PYP Excursion to the KINGDOM OF DREAMS
On December 7, 2010, all the PYP students of G. D. Goenka World School, Sohna, went on a day trip to the Kingdom of Dreams, Sohna. They were accompanied by several teachers and supporting staff. The buses departed soon after 9 am, filled with excited children and individually packed breakfast boxes to make the journey enjoyable .At the destination, the students had some time to take in the wonderfully carved sculptures in the front courtyard, and teachers were able to give them background information about the place and the significance of the outdoor décor.
Once the students were led to the interior streetwalking experience in the ‘Culture Gali’, they displayed keen observation and enthusiasm for all the exhibits on display. They recognized hallmarks of various states and cities of India from their prior experiences, and asked several questions about models, artefacts, and structures that they saw for the first time. The staff at Kingdom of Dreams supported the teachers to make the streetwalking experience a mini “tour of India”!

Group 4 Project-Excursion
As part of their IB-DP curriculum, all students have to undertake a Group 4 project. To facilitate the same, each year the school organizes a Group 4 Project trip for Grade XI, where students are encouraged to broaden their horizon and exposure to their science subjects by exploring local environment. The students work in groups supervised by a science teacher and present their findings by way of presentations and displays. This year the students went to Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary and an active Brick Kiln site. Each student visited one of these sites on two days
