Folklorama: Story Telling for lower primary @ GDGWS

admin News & Events

The ancient art of storytelling is especially well-suited for student exploration. As a learning tool, storytelling can encourage students to explore their unique expressiveness and can heighten a student’s ability to communicate thoughts and feelings in an articulate, lucid manner.

GDGWS library invited Ms Anupa Lal to enchant young pupils with this art on May 8th 2015 at 10:15 a.m. at JPR.

Children were actively engaged in the session with the storyteller & author of more than 20 books which include a retelling of the Ramayana; biographies of Ramana Maharishi and Munshi Premchand; translations of several short stories by Munshi Premchand as well as his last novel ‘Godan’; and two books of poems for children. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed this exciting opportunity to interact with the author. The author mesmerized the young Goenkans with her art of storytelling. She narrated “Courageous Boy Rahul” and “A Wise Rabbit” which not only would help develop listening, speaking and critical thinking skills but also add value to the character building.
