G.D.Goenka World School, Sohna and Oban High School, Scotland have come a long way on the journey of attaining Global citizenship skills for the students and teachers of their respective schools. De-facto exchange is taking place from the year 2007 by way of Book Marks and E-mails and witnessed human resource exchange in April 2013 when Ms Briana and Ms Amy Russell, teachers of Oban High School visited GDGWS. While student communities built momentum on the project ‘Learn to preserve endangered species’, Ms Madhu Bhargava of GDGWS visited Scotland in June 2013 for professional exchange and added value to learning of facts about ‘Scotland’s endangered species. She visited ‘Natural History Museum’ and University of Glasgow’s department of Science and ‘Sea life’ of Oban. The partnership flourished and in 2014 teachers of partner schools visited each other on ‘Travel Diaries’ project and learnt much more about Scotland and India. Participant teachers and students taught each other Shakespeare, Indian games like ‘Kabbadi’, Highland Dance, Kathak, Cooking of Mughal Dish ‘Butter Chicken’, going on adventure trips like ‘SEFARI’ and snow clad Mountains of Scotland. The schools have also exchanged ‘Yoga and Meditation’ techniques and have enjoyed visiting ‘Taj Mahal’. ‘Qutub Minar’, ‘Lotus Temple’, ‘Delhi Zoo’, ‘Self Sustained village of TERI’, ‘Castles of Scotland’ and famous distillery of Oban. In a community outreach program of Oban High School, teachers and students of partner schools, cooked together Indian dishes and were sold to raise funds for community service. It was a highly appreciated projected and has been filmed to be presented on UK television. In October, this year, a team of students and two teachers would be visiting GDGWS and India to further highlight the exchange program with many community outreach activities.
