RockSport Challenge was started together by Rocksport and Rannvijay as India’s first obstacle racing event. This is one of its kind adventure race designed to test the physical and mental strength of a team while assessing their combined leadership strength. A team of four IAYP participants (Ritu Yadav, Riya Bharti, Hritik Kashyap and Saras Sachdev) along with Mrs. Vijayashree Pahal (IAYP Coordinator) represented GDGWS in ROCKSPORT CHALLENGE SEASON 2 on the 19th January 2014 at CAMP TICKLING, GURGAON. Ritu Yadav led the school squad in the 5KM obstacle race circuit thr ough acres of farm fields, uninhabited forests, rocky hills and patches of marshy land. The circuit was poisoned by 12 obstacles that awaited the runners and required them to carry heavy objects, traverse water bodies, crawl under barbed wire, etc. The surprise challenges that racers come across tested their endurance, strength, speed, dexterity and decision making.
RockSport challenge provided ample opportunities for nature, sports and action photography. Rehmat Babbar participated in the “SHOOT THE CHALLENGE” contest and was one of the official photographers of the event.
The venue was action packed with a lot of adventure activities like Hot Air Ballooning, Quad Biking, Zorbing, Sports Climbing, Running Bunjee, etc to pump up the adrenalin of the participants and guests. Coupled with this were two days of non-stop head-banging music lined up by the best college ROCK bands and finest DJs of Delhi.
To conclude this Adventure carnival the chief guest Dr. Kiran Bedi gave away the prizes and awarded the certificates for the inspiring educators to a few selected Principals of the schools in the NCR region. Our Head Of School, Dr. Neeta Bali was among the few to receive the award from the Indian social activist and the first woman IPS officer of the country.
