G.D. Goenka World School held it’s first interschool ‘Commerce Con’ on the 11th of October with a total of 13 schools including DPS, Vasant Kunj, DPS , Saket Amity International School , Sector 46 Gurgaon , Bhatnagar International School, Vasant Kunj, G.D. Goenka International School ,Surat, G. D. Goenka Public School, Faridabad, G.D. Goenka Public School ,Rohini, G.D. Goenka Public School, Vasant kunj , G. D. Goenka World School, Sohna , Hamdard Public School, New Delhi , Lancers International School , Gurgaon , Scottish High International School, Gurgaon , Vasant Valley School, Vasant Kunj, participated in this event.
The schools arrived with full confidence and after registering they were lead to the venue of the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the Head of School , Dr. Neeta Bali and the Chief Guest, Dr. Raj Singh , Vice Chancellor- G.D. Goenka University, and other distinguished guests . The audience was presented with a performance of ‘Ganesh Vandana’ performed by the IB and IGCSE children of the host school. Once the event was inaugurated, student volunteers lead the participating schools to their assigned competitions. The events showcased the talents of the students. ‘The last word’, a debate, saw the students presenting their views for and against the motion for the topic ‘Are entrepreneurs too crazy to be god CEOs?’ While on the other hand, hot minds pressed the buzzer in the quiz ‘Biz Wiz’. And lastly, the young minds put their best foot forward in ‘Invention is better than innovation’ which allowed the students to showcase a new product made by them.
The judges of these competitions were the highly accomplished academics from GDGU, who thoroughly enjoyed the wide display of talents from different schools. After a heavy lunch the students were lead back for the closing ceremony of where Guest of Honour , Ms. Bharti Sharma , Director- Franchisees schools and Dr. Neeta Bali gave out the awards . closing ceremony entertained the guests to the maximum for all the hard work they had put in. The school band gave an electrifying performanceof ‘The mirgya’ song, which was followed by a soothing hymn by the school choir. The performances of the closing ceremony ended with a modern contemporary dance, which was well applauded. The overall winner was G D Goenka International School, Surat , followed by G D Goenka World School, Sohna and G D Goenka Public School , Vasant Kunj. Overall the event was a huge success and each one left with smiles and fond memories. Also, it was well appreciated by all.
