A Triangular Conference was recently held at G D Goenka World School, Sohna Gurgaon. A 3-Way Conference acknowledges and actively involves parents, teachers and Management in reflecting on student progress. It involves the parents in a discussion about their child’s progress as a learner. The teachers provide information about what students have learnt, what are the next steps in their learning, what progress they are making towards self and importantly what challenges they face. This conference is a platform to discuss about performance and progress and strengthen the home-school partnership and allow children to see their parents and teacher working in tandem for them.
Throughout the conference, parents and the teacher were encouraged to ask questions and provide feedback .Parents were encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas on what is being presented and on what goals they think are appropriate. “The conference was not only a forum for teachers and parents to acknowledge student progress and achievement but also helped the parents to understand the teaching, learning, assessment and reporting mechanism. “We make concerted efforts as a school community to gauge the needs of our students to strengthen teaching learning”, said Dr.Neeta Bali, Director Principal GDGWS.
The school believes that when Parents and Teachers work together to support children, they become more actively involved to take greater ownership and responsibility for their learning. The aim of this conference was to celebrate successes and discuss areas for improvement and strategies’ together.
