Goenkan social workers get Tiranga Badge Awards

Thirty-six school students were conferred the first Tiranga Badge Awards today at a ceremony at Bal Bhawan, New Delhi for their contributions in the field of social service.

The awards, instituted by the Flag Foundation of India, were given to students in the age group of 12-20 who have contributed to the welfare of schools, colleges, society, city or the country.

The award ceremony started with a short introduction by Mrs. Shalu Jindal, noted Kuchipudi danseuse and the Chairperson of the National Bal Bhawan followed by the distribution of the Awards to students and concluded with a vote of thanks by Malvika Halwasyia, convener the Tiranga Badge Awards.

Among the awardees were students from Sanskriti School, Modern School Barakhamba Road, G D Goenka World School, DPS Mathura Road, Amity International and a few more noted schools from the Delhi NCR region.

Two of the Goenkan IAYP Groups EARTH TOMORROW (Surya Pahal, Srivattsan Ramesh, Sakshi Bhargawa, Ananya Vidyarthi & Nirvaan Garg) and SPREAD COLOURS (Harveer Juneja, Annant, Sneha, Ranjit, Arjun, Akash, Aishvarya, Hitakshi, Jayraj & Ataul ) were awarded the prestigious Tiranga Award. A group of fifteen MSP students along with the school IAYP Coordinator, Mrs. Vijayashree Pahal and the school Bronze Level Award Leader-Mr. Jinas Panicker witnessed and interacted with Mrs. Jindal who was impressed by the community service projects undertaken by the Goenkan IAYP participants.

“We need to encourage youngsters who are doing exemplary work in the field of social welfare. The Tiranga Badge Awards will provide educational institutions the opportunity to nominate students working in this field and recognise the work done by them,” said National Bal Bhavan chairperson Shallu Jindal, who adjudged the entries.

The awards intend to encourage students to realise and learn the importance of service and sacrifice and teach them to help others without expecting anything in return.
