This was for the very first time that our school hosted summer internships for IGCSE students at our own G.D Goenka University. The activities that were covered under the summer internship running for almost a month involved students giving them practical experience in diverse fields. The different fields that were introduced to our students were as follows:
Engineering Centric: Under this project our students were introduced to Robotics and were further introduced to architecture of Arduino micro controller, the connections of motors and other electric components, Arduino and the Arduino programming.
Website Designing: Students were taught skills needed for web design. Students were helped with understanding markup and PHP basics, they were also introduced to embedding PHP in HTML.
Media Centric: Under this field students were acquainted with film making, news writing, still photography and radio production/podcasting.
Social Service: Students were given a chance to educate our school’s establishment staff about health and safety measures. Students were also given a chance to teach the underprivileged children from the slums at the NGO Hope.
Law: This is a field where the students were introduced to the constitution of India. Different situations and how the law orders under the same was another component of the internship.
This over all provided our students with an enriching experience covering over diverse fields. With the successful happening of the Summer internship programme for IGCSE students we close it with the aim of having such activities every year.
Goenkans share their experiences
Enthusiastic and proud Goenkans shared their Summer Internship experiences in an assembly conducted last week. As many as 50 students from the IGCSE program shared pictures and their learning experiences from this Internship. The audience comprising of the students of grade 9 and 10 sat mesmerized and listened rapt with attention.
Engineering Centric, Website designing, Media Centric, Social Service and law were some of the programs which kept the students busy during the summer break.
