Goenkans Join Save The Tiger Campaign

admin News & Events

A presentation on ‘Save the Tiger’ was conducted for students of G D Goenka World School by Mrs Sharmishtha. The presentation provided a good overview of the sharp decline in tiger’s population and wanted all to join hands to save the dwindling numbers of tigers in India. This program aimed to educate children from the grassroot level about how important it is to save the tiger. Save our Tigers campaign is a collaborative effort from Aircel and WWF India to save the wildlife (especially tigers) worldwide. This presentation brought to light the real programme in its full glory.

It was heartening to see clips on how the tiger is being massacred in our country. Tiger, the national animal of India, has been on key target of poachers and there are just 1411 tigers left in India. A Postcard campaign followed the presentation. Children were advised to write a message to the Environment Minister, stating their opinion on conservation issues. Regular activities will follow in the coming weeks where children will be exposed to more issues on tigers. The program was attended by all Middle School teachers and students.
