On 28th of September, 2012, talent show was held for the boarding students of GD Goenka. The show was named as “Goenka’sGotTalent, Season 1”. This was by far the best talent show with approximately 50% of the boarding students participating in it. The honorable judges were our very own principal Mrs. Neeta Bali, vice Principal Mrs. Neeru Sharma and respected sir Major Sharma.
There were many dance performances (solo and group) and the best one (as chosen by the judges) was that of grade 12 (group performance) in which almost all 12 graders came on stage and danced with so much enthusiasm and zealscoring 3 stars (which is equal to 30/30) that it made the show a success. The solo dance prize went to Shivaji who performed a beautiful and energetic classical dance on the song “Nimboora” catching the attention of each and every person sitting in the audience. The parody of the famous TV show, CID won the award for the best play scoring 28/30. The movie was downright hilarious, no one could resist laughing though the actual talent was hid backstage where the eleventh graders directed, edited, filmed and wrote the film. The award for the group musical performance went to grade 10 girls who were so melodious in their song that I wouldn’t be wrong in saying that they put the original song to shame with their exquisite singing. There was an award for musical solo also, won by “Rhythm – The Rock Band”. Their singing and technical skills on the instruments was just mesmerizing and when they sung, everyone was simply mesmerized and lost in their melodies. Next, all of us got a surprise when the house parents came on stage and performed two songs and that was what made our evening. Everyone was left speechless. We all had the best time enjoying each and every performance. In the end, our respected judges gave the prizes to the winners and everyone, with the Principal, Mrs Bali , complimenting the sheer brilliance of what they had seen on stage, dispersed.
