The IB Orientation opened to a large number of pre university students and their parents on Wednesday, 13 April 2016. The scheduled orientation aimed at providing information regarding the events that are specifically designed for those interested in pursing the IB Diploma Programme.
The orientation helped in providing an overview of the IB program with particular focus on:
- teaching and learning in the IB programme
- recognition of IB programmes
- importance of Research and self study
The two year Programme encourages students to develop their depth of knowledge and gain versatility.
The presentation by Ms. Neha Sharma, the officiating IBC, focused on the DP curriculum; which is made up of six subject groups and the DP core which consists of the theory of knowledge (TOK), creativity, activity and service (CAS) and the Extended Essay.
The parents took part in productive discussions in terms of universities and careers, they were advised to consider which countries and university courses and also the requirements of the same.
The parental feedback suggested that the orientation provided an excellent opportunity to discuss subject choices and gain a certain degree of clarity regarding the challenges of this programme.
