DESIGN WOKSHOP – Creativity combined with fun
The sweltering afternoon of 24th of May, witnessed the a group of curious IGCSE pupils gathered in the Senior Art Room to participate in a Design Workshop using ‘found objects.’ Pen caps, bottle caps, erasers, set squares and sharpeners all provided readymade shapes which the pupils traced on a given piece of paper.
To begin with, the pupils were asked to divide their papers into four quadrants using pencils and scales. They were then shown how they could repeat one shape and create a unit of design which was then colored with poster colors and pastels.
The students created amazing designs as they were able to express themselves and it was interesting to note just how individual and original each pupil’s approach was to this medium. The fifty odd minutes were well spent as some colorful units of design came into being.
