International Literacy Day – September 8th 2015

Social Service League and CAS students started a drive to support International Literacy Day on September 8th 2015 and followed an action plan on UN Millennium Development goal, ‘Achieve Universal Primary Education’ which was serviced by Primary, Middle and Senior School students linking various aspects of the goal.

Primary and Middle school SSL team visited Vivek Bharti High School, Ghamdoj Village, Sohna on 27th August 2015 for Reading Promotion. Team members had shared information on e books and an interactive session on Importance of e books in future. They educated the students to use International Children’s Digital Library http://en.childrenslibrary.org/ which is a valuable resource for any age group of students. There was an overwhelming response from the students. This ‘Reading Promotion’ service has been linked with UN goal of ‘Universal Primary Literacy’ using technology.

On 8th September another group of senior school students visited Vivek Bharti High School, Sohna for English Language Teaching to primary and middle school students using teaching aids and technology.

On 12th September another group of senior students visited NGO SUBHAG FOUNDATION www.subhagfoundation.org to share literacy skills where they not only taught basics of English Language Grammar and Mathematics to 42 students of various levels of literacy and age but also performed story telling sessions for them.
