As part of their PYP Exhibition Unit, Breaking down Barriers, Grade 5 organized a talk show on Saturday 16th February 2013. Parents, students and teachers participated in an enthusiastic discussion on the various rights available for people with special needs and promoting sensitivity towards them, with an aim to creating an inclusive society.
The participants were asked to share their perspectives on a variety of questions such as ‘Should infrastructural changes be made mandatory in all institutions?’ and ‘Will making education for people with special needs inclusive help in uplifting the standard of learning for them?’
At the end of the talk show, one parent commented, “I applaud the efforts taken by the school. It is interactions like these that reinforce and help break down existing social and infrastructural barriers”.
