Touch is the first language we speak. – Stephen Gaskin
In today’s world, it is imperative to talk to teenagers about the differences between right and wrong, appropriate and inappropriate. Learning how to take care of your body is an important part of growing up. Group session was held with grade 6th students that focused on the need of understanding safe and unsafe touch. In an interactive session, students learnt to take the ownership of their body and learnt how to say ‘No’ for an unacceptable touch. Students reflected their understanding by drawing pictures of safe, unsafe and unwanted touch. Armed with this knowledge, students will be better prepared to protect themselves if they’re ever in this scary situation.
