The Silver Fiesta 2022, an online, film critiquing event, was hosted by GDGWS over Zoom. The competition was graced by the presence of Dr. Sudipta Sen Gupta and Ms. Tunali Mukherjee, filmmaker, as judges. The event commenced with a dance performance by Kaynat Amarsinghe and was followed by a guitar-strumming by Devansh Gupta. Our director principal, Dr. Neeta Bali, then extended a formal welcome to a distinguished audience. The participants were shown a short video on the nuances of film critiquing by AO Forbes and were then taken through the rules of the competition. The movie ’Chicken Girls’ was screened for the participants to analyse. The 1hr 10 min movie was followed by a 45-minute discussion for the participants in breakout rooms where they could analyze the movie based on the criteria given and prepare a presentation. After each school finished its presentation, the judges commented on the elements of the film and on the presentations of the schools. Finally, there was the Director Principal’s ending note and result declaration. An astounding 13 schools participated in the competition, and Scottish High International took home the first prize, followed by a tie for second place between GD Goenka World School and The Shri Ram School, Moulsari. GD Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj followed up for 3rd place, and Step by Step, Noida ended up in 4th place. The 2022 Silver Fiesta culminated with Ms. Anupama Chopra’s vote of thanks to the audience.
