This is the report of the calendared Tabla event in our school. It was demonstration cum recital of beats and compositions. Presentation was placed in by Grade 3, 4, 5 pupils.
The recital begins at 9:25 am, with chanting of few shlokas in sanskrit. Then in the beginning, participants did the Padhant (verbal recitation of taal and compositions) of Teentaal with different speeds (single, double and quadruple). Eventually they played Uthan, Quida with palta & tihai in vilambit laya whereas in Madhya laya they have played few Tukras with Padhant in the same taal. Wherever it was needful I explained the terms to the audience. They have concluded their performance by accompaniment tabla with Bhajan and prayer song. As instructed by the teachers and students Tabla teacher also performed a short recital to motivate children and make them aware of Indian classical music and specially the Tabla as well. This performance finally concluded successfully. Overall this was a nice experience for the children as they have learned a lot of things about the beat system and enjoyed this recital with the theory and verbal explanation as well.
