The teacher’s day was celebrated by the Goenkan family on the 4th and the 5th of September.
The PYP Goenkan Circus was held on the 4th of September, Wednesday.
As the name suggests, the theme for this year’s PYP teacher’s day was ‘Circus’. The venue was all set up in exuberant colors resembling the circus theme. The hall truly felt like a circus venue. The whole area was covered with circus flags and lights, highlighting the decorative walls and boards. The show was performed by all the PYP children from the ‘Nursery’ grade to the 5th grade. All the children were full of enthusiasm and were filled with the passion to perform for their teachers. And as the theme suggested, all the children were in clown (circus) clothes, seeming extremely cute. Moreover to support the children, the teachers came dressed in clown clothes and makeup; which really motivated everyone. The teachers really loved the show; "this was one of the best teachers day gift I have ever received in my career", said the PYP co-coordinator. The show was power pack success to the organizing 11th grade.
The theme for the senior teacher’s day was ‘Arabian Nights’, and was held on the 5th of September. The hall was full of decorations and seemed to be perfect; which made the audience feel as if they entered the boundaries of the UAE. The hall was decorated with colored drapes and other traditional Arab decorations. At the entrance the teachers were offered dates and a traditional dessert ‘baklava’; which were loved by the teachers. Supporting and encouraging the theme of the show, the teachers came traditionally dressed with chal chals and other Arab fashion. The show was performed by the MYP, IGCSE and the IB students; which were extremely exciting . The venue also had a photo-shoot area with traditional Arab background, where the teachers were provided with traditional Arab clothing and got pictures clicked. The teachers really appreciated the show; one of the teachers said “I felt like I was attending the IIFA awards! It was a great gift”. The teacher Coordinators for the programme were Mrs. Vijayashree Pahal & Mrs. Jyoti Ahuja
