“Violence is not merely killing another. It is violence when we use a sharp word, when we make a gesture to brush away a person, when we obey because there is fear. Violence is much more subtle”

The UN has marked a 16 day campaign: Orange the world: End violence against women and girls starting from 25 November to 10 December, to galvanize action to end violence against women and girls around the worldWith orange as the unifying colour of solidarity, the #OrangeTheWorld is designed to send a clear message that violence against women and girls must end now, and we all have a role to play because this public problem is not just a matter for the family or as something to be kept in the private domain.

GDGWS participated in this campaign by conducting a special assembly and addressing violence against women and changing gender attitudes. Through this the students of GDGWS had a clear message to spread  that “the change in the society’s mindset is crucial to ensure gender equality and initiatives at the grassroots level which will help abate incidents of violence against women.
